My Heart Song

Heart with music

“ We love because He first loved us”. I John 4:19

Valentine’s is upon us and although we love to shower our mate with appreciation, let us not forget our first love and the sacrifice made on the cross of calvary.  This Valentine’s holiday finds us thankful and blessed.  This past year of events has been somewhat of a whirlwind for our family.  Our house was destroyed by flood, my husband was transferred to Houston, TX because they were closing down the train yard where he had been for 16 years and to top it all off he had to undergo a radical nephrectomy because he had kidney cancer, and through it all we were not alone.

The anchor holds
Though the ship is battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees as I face the raging seas
The anchor holds in spite of the storm

One of my favorite songs.  Because my dear friend the anchor does hold.  God has forever been a constant in my life and guided me more than once through the storms of life and I have safely arrived on shore.  This old body is a little worn, scarred, and tired but I still proclaim the name above all names.  Lord of Lords and King of Kings.  He is my defender.  My rescuer. My steadfast and My Hope.

Nothing can separate me from the love of my Lord.  Not my past, present, daily failures…NOTHING!.  He is my heart song and without Him I am nothing.  It is all nothing without His love in my heart.  Thank you, God, for your preservation, strength, and provision.  Thank you for your mercies that are fresh and new every morning.

22 “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness”.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)

We know that restoration is on the horizon for my God is always faithful.  My husband is continuing to heal because my God is faithful.  We have a place to lay our head at night because my God is faithful.  My prayer is that you have the same heart song.  That you have found your first love.  If not, there is no better time than Valentine’s Day to commit to your true valentine.

24 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’

Number 6:24-26
