Thankful

Give thanks with a grateful heart.  Give praise to the Holy One.  Give thanks because he’s given Jesus Christ his son.

One of my favorite chorus songs.  So beautiful and heartfelt.  We should be thankful always, for God is extremely good to each and every one of us.  Always desiring to bless us and wanting much more than we could ever truly want for ourselves.  We get so caught up with our daily grind of things to accomplish that we forget to place God where he belongs and before you know it, we have pushed through another day without even stopping to acknowledge the one who gifted it to us in the first place.

I have a sign that I purchased to hang over the head of my bed that says, “When I rise give me Jesus”.  Sadly some mornings I forget to take him with me, but on the days I stop and take the time to thank him for the breath in my lungs, the clothes on my back and the shelter of protection to rest and seek refuge my day is so much better.  I need him.  I need him every moment of every day and I don’t want to forget that.

Thank you father, thank you for the blessings you have poured out on my family, thank you for the moments of enlightenment that came from the deepest sorrows of my heart, for wanting so much more for me than I ever wanted for myself.  May I rise and carry you with me every day and may I seek every opportunity you place before me to extend your grace and love to someone in need.

Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 107:1 NKJV
